Another trick is to make sure you buff long enough to sing "Happy Birthday" twice. You want to work the foundation in your skin and allow the warmth of your skin to meld the minerals into your skin. A little minerals goes a long way. You can build coverage as needed but start small. Using too much, too soon will result in a caked up mess and that ain't pretty.
